Review
Humor, food, hot cook, smoking hot passion... And quite the plot twists, what better combo could you ask for? Add Johnny FREAK and his gaggy mother and you've got great entertainment, even if they are villains.
The first 28% of the novel took me a bit to get into because there was a lot about food, prep, ect., but once I got past that part, I realized it was all necessary since a portion of the story revolves around Barrio XO, a restaurant Choco's family owns.
Oh the drama! Of course I love the drama and the jealousy! Makes for an angsty read, especially when it's Choco's cousin, Julia, who's set up with Carlos. Too bad it backfired for Choco, but all for a good reason.
And then we have Livy. Oh how I loved Livy! Cracked me up big time. But here's the thing, there is a story behind Livy, one that I didn't see coming, and let's just say it was an excellent twist in the story, along with the other plot twists I didn't see coming. But of course, Rachelle Ayala is a master at throwing suspense into her novels and I love it!
The entire story was excellent and I love the passion between Choco and Carlos, and the bickering.
Claiming Carlos was a fun, steamy, twisty novel and I totally needed that to break up some of the darker, more depressing reads I've read lately.
Love the fantastic teasers too!
